George Tjeerdsma

DELAVAN - On May 6, 2024, George Tjeerdsma, Jr unexpectedly went to be with his wife of 70 years in heaven instead of attending her funeral.

George was born in South Dakota to George Sr. and Henrietta Tjeerdsma. When he was young, his family moved to a farm in Sharon, Wisconsin. He met Harriet Jongetjes through the Christian Reformed Church, Delavan and they were married December 4, 1953. During their 70 years of marriage, they enjoyed travelling all over the United States visiting their many friends and relatives. They enjoyed card club with friends, and could often be found enjoying breakfast, lunch, or dinner at local restaurants.  Especially Culvers!

George was a member of Calvary Community Church, Williams Bay, and will be remembered for his many life stories that were guaranteed to make you laugh.  He was never shy about telling you who his Lord and Savior is and sharing scripture versus.

George was employed as a kitchen and carpet installer, journeyman carpenter and a carpet salesman at Doyne-Rayne and Four Seasons Flooring.  He was also proud to claim the title of assistant housekeeper for Harriet’s House Cleaning Service. He was a fan of anything Civil War and US history in general and would read books to enhance his knowledge of the subject.

Husband/Father/Dad/Grandpa/Great-Grandpa and soon to be Great-Great Grandpa are all the titles that he was proud of.  He is survived and will be greatly missed by his sister: Delores Nordeng; brother-in-law: Henry (Linda) Jonson; brother-in-law: John Hiemstra; sister-in-law: Marge Jongetjes; daughters: Sherry (David) Landeau, Sandra (Robert) Recker, Lori Weyrough; Grandchildren: Jessica (Jeremy) Ward, Dena Recker, Connor (Miley) Dlabal, Robbie (Nicole) Weyrough, Sabra (Brandon) Robinson, Mikaela (Clarence) Bonner, Nika Weyrough; great-grandchildren: Jazlynn, Colton, Landon, Scarlet, Greyson, Alexandria, Penelope, Evelyn, Elsa, and Cecelia; and many other family, extended family and friends.

The family would like to thank the owner and staff at Culvers in Delavan for their kindness to George and for keeping him well fed.
